Déjà Vu

First it was our Alex Dress and now our collection of the ruched dresses! We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw the similarity between our dresses and the one Beyoncé was seen wearing earlier this month.

As we said earlier, the fashion trends must be getting really global.
Get her style here with Ruched Dress in Royal Blue and Black.

And we have to ask you this Beyoncé, “How do you get those curves?”

The Beautiful Game

What happens when you take Superman and his heroine together and place them behind a 70’s Bollywood style flower garden? That’s what we wanted to know when some of us went to the Nature Morte Gallery last year.

The stylish but somewhat  eccentrically dressed duo Thukral & Tagra were exhibiting their installations and paintings as the original Superman film was being screened in one of the darker rooms. Another room was designed as a neat bedroom, very suggestive of what it symbolised.

This was the ‘Put it On, Again’ exhibition. Apart from being beautifully colourful and the characters and motifs flying across the skies, there was an undercurrent of playful irony in these romantic depictions. Thukral & Tagra or T&T are contemporary artists who blur the lines between High Art and Popular Culture. Although their works are playful and humorous, they ask serious questions about sexuality and the new Indian identity in the 21st Century global context.

And the best part of the exhibition for us was ‘The Beautiful Game’. It was a game of pool and whoever managed to get the ball into a pocket won cool underwear or flip flops.

Calling Dips

Having friends over to watch the next one-day match at your house? We have a quick and easy dip for your appetizers which will have your friends licking their fingers (figuratively speaking, of course) even while holding their breath waiting on the Umpire’s decision.

The Hummus is one of the most popular Middle Eastern dips which is best served with fresh or toasted pita bread.

You will need:

  • 1 bowl of boiled chickpeas
  • 1 big lemon – juiced
  •  Green olives
  • Tahini paste – 2 tablespoons (add an edge to the flavour with grounded sesame seeds)
  • Garlic paste 1 ½ tablespoon
  •  Salt – to taste
  • Pepper – to taste (use freshly ground, if available)
  • Chopped parsley
  • Olive oil
  • Chilly powder

Blend the chickpeas (using the boiled water) into a thick paste. Add garlic, lemon juice, tahini, salt and pepper to the paste and mix for 3-5 minutes (or until smooth). You can add chopped olives for taste.

Place in serving bowl and create a shallow well at the center of the hummus. Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well. Garnish with chilly powder, chopped parsley and olives.

It can be served immediately with fresh, warm or toasted pita bread and also stored in the fridge for 4-5days.

You can enjoy the match in your India Polo, India International Polo, The Googly T-shirt or the Man of the Match T-shirt.
